Sofia Chunga Pizarro is a graduate student at the Bush School of Government & Public Service pursuing a Master's in Public Administration. Her area of focus is public policy analysis, and her research interests include migration policy and immigrant higher education access. Sofia graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and minors in Latino/Mexican American Studies and Philosophy. At A&M, Sofia has served in various leadership roles, such as a Senator in the Student Government Association and President of the Council for Minority Student Affairs.
While at the Bush School, Sofia serves as a Hispanic Serving Institution Guiding Committee member, tasked with working across Texas A&M to amplify and optimize the institution's designation as an HSI, furthering the university's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Additionally, Sofia works as a research assistant to support the Displaced Learner's Access to Higher Education collaboration. After graduation, Sofia hopes to continue her work in migration policy, focusing on undocumented immigrants in the US to generate a pathway to citizenship and create more humane immigrant policy practices.
