Ian McDonough is a US Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal officer currently transitioning to the Navy Reserves after nine years of active service. He most recently served as the Special Operations Forces Branch Chief for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s Nuclear Enterprise, where he led a cross-functional team providing global contingency response to help counter weapons of mass destruction. Previous operational assignments include back-to-back deployments as the Officer-In-Charge of the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command Exploitation Lab and as an Assistant Platoon Commander deployed to Iraq with a west coast-based SEAL Team. A proud native of New Fairfield, Connecticut, Ian graduated cum laude from Villanova University in 2012 with a BS in Comprehensive Science and minors in Philosophy and Naval Science. He was commissioned through the Navy ROTC program and went on to graduate at the top of his class in the rigorous Explosive Ordnance Disposal training pipeline. In his spare time, Ian is a two-time Ironman triathlete, water polo player, and yoga teacher.
