Alejandra Garcia is a graduate student at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) pursuing a Master of Public Policy. Her area of interest is in Global Health and Global Processes and Institutions, and her research interest include the intersection of corporate governance and public policy. Garcia graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Communications while interning at the California State Capitol through the Sacramento Semester Program. After graduating, Garcia served as a Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) intern in Washington, DC for a member of Congress. Since returning to California, Garcia secured a job with the State Assembly Committee on Appropriations. Later she served as a Legislative Aide for her state representative where she worked on housing, labor and employment, aging, health and local government state legislation. Garcia successfully staffed AB 73, the Farmworker Wildfire Smoke Protection Act and was signed by Governor Gavin Newsom in 2021. At UCLA, Garcia serves as a board member of the Luskin Latinx Caucus and a candidate of the Global Public Affairs program. After graduation, Garcia hopes to continue her work in public policy at the intersection of corporate governance and global compliance.
