Reema is a graduate student at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago pursuing a Master in Public Policy. She is specializing in Global Conflict and International Development, and her policy interests include forced migration, human rights advocacy, and humanitarian aid. At the Harris School, she is a Pearson Fellow and the Lead Producer of the Root of Conflict podcast. She is passionate about using her research skills for mission-driven storytelling. Currently, she supports communications for several advocacy and social service organizations in Chicago. Previously, she completed internships with Freedom House, PartnersGlobal, Advocates for Youth, and the U.S. State Department. She is a published writer, poet, journalist, and digital media storyteller. Additionally, she co-produces long-form video essays and media commentary on her YouTube channel, Night Owls. Originally from South Carolina, she graduated from the University of Chicago with degrees in Public Policy and Creative Writing. During her studies, she founded the student-run Partnership for the Advancement of Refugee Rights and was awarded the David L. Boren Scholarship for overseas study. After graduation, she is aspiring towards a career in human rights or humanitarian aid policy.
