Nelson Ross is a graduate student at the Georgetown University Walsh School of Foreign Service pursuing a Master’s in Foreign Service. His area of focus concerns the intersection of science, technology, and international affairs, focusing on the African continent. His research interests are information and communication technology, artificial intelligence, and surveillance technologies. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor’s in Political Science with minors in international relations and public policy. After graduation, he worked under AmeriCorps as an Urban Education Fellow in Newark, NJ, to improve local high school operations. After returning to Kansas, Nelson worked with the Department of Education’s TRIO program while completing a Master’s in Public Administration. At Georgetown University, he serves as his program’s graduate government senator on the Constitutional Committee dedicated to improving operations and relations between graduate programs and university administration. After graduation, Nelson hopes to implement technological advances utilizing AI and increase cybersecurity infrastructure with African countries.
