Himaja Nimmagadda is a graduate student studying Cybersecurity Policy & Compliance at George Washington University. She is engaged with data protection and digital privacy matters that affect individuals across gender, race, age, and geographic location within the United States. Himaja also serves as the Associate Director for the Inclusive Peer Onsite Distance Mentoring Program for WISER, which is a nonprofit, nonpartisan research institute that strives to expand women-focused policy research to include the social, economic, and political well-being of Asian, Black, Hispanic, Indigenous American, and Multiracial women. She helps lead this initiative in its mission to diversify the economics profession by providing mentorship support and resources to American Economic Association Summer Training Program graduates. Additionally, she contributes to WISER's weekly emails, focusing on policy issues at the intersection of data, cyber well-being, and vulnerable populations.
Himaja received her B.S. in Economics and Gender & Women's Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University. An organized and strategic leader, Himaja intends to use her skill set to influence policy changes that mitigate the effect of outdated privacy laws on healthcare and reproductive justice.
