Gabriel Stowe Terrell is a graduate student at the La Follette School of Public Affairs pursuing a Master's in Public Affairs. His areas of focus is higher education policy and transportation, and his research interests include municipal economic development strategies that reduce wealth inequality. Gabriel graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Industrial and Labor Relations. After graduating in May 2021, Gabriel became a Policy Researcher with Downtown Madison, Inc., a member organization utilizing advocacy, research, planning, and community action to build a healthy and vibrant downtown for all people. Completing research projects, presentations, and advocacy on intercity train service and downtown train station locations, intercity bus stations development proposals, bus rapid transit advocacy, and pilot programs that turn prime downtown storefront space into pop-up shops for entrepreneurs of color, Gabriel continues to develop insights into how downtowns follow-through on equity and sustainability goals. Gabriel serves as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator for the La Follette School Student Association. After graduation, Gabriel hopes to continue his work to create vibrant downtowns that are welcoming to all people through long-term partnerships between state and local entities, and community partners, that provide long-term business support for entrepreneurs of color and provide high-quality, equitable, access to public transportation options anywhere in the municipality.
