Cristobal Garcia-Quiroz is a graduate student at Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs pursuing a Master's in Public Administration with a concentration in Human Rights and Humanitarian Policy. His academic interests lie at the intersections of wealth and racial/ethnic inequities. Graduating from St. Edward's University with a degree in Biology and Political Science, Cristobal has had extensive experience working in scholarship related to public health as it impacts low-income and POC communities. Becoming a Public Policy and International Fellow at Carnegie Mellon led him to improving his advocacy and policy skills, which facilitated his subsequent role as a City of Austin Commissioner. At Columbia, he serves as the Co-President of the Migration Working Group and engages in work involving immigrant food security and educational programs for imprisoned people. After graduation, Cristobal hopes to continue to expand policies that benefit marginalized communities in the United States.
