Clara Chiu is a first-year master’s student in the Conflict Resolution program. Originally from Palo Alto, California, she received her B.A. in government from Georgetown in May 2020 with a minor in journalism. As an undergraduate student she was co-president of the Buddhist Student Association, guide for the Outdoor Education department, staff writer for the Georgetown Voice, and research assistant to Dr. Sam Potolicchio. She also completed internships with Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, Hill.TV, and the Library of Congress. Clara is particularly interested in the intersection of human rights and environmental policy; she is currently partnering with the International Water Management Institute to research how climate change adaptation projects have unintentionally reinforced social inequalities. In her spare time she enjoys writing letters to friends, reading long-form journalism, and spending time outdoors.
