Emerging as a Global Leader Experience (EaGLE) Program

Accelerating the careers of young veterans and mission-oriented public servants.

Objectives

The EaGLE program accelerates the careers of emerging leaders working in national security and public service. The program provides participants with intensive leadership development based on theories of innovation, technology and entrepreneurship.

Solutions

Over the course of several virtual immersive workshop sessions, participants gain experience with design thinking, lean startup methods, strengths-based leadership, and professional networking strategies to help them maximize impact. EaGLE alumni gain a diverse community and support system that encourages continued growth beyond the program.

The EaGLE program selects 25-30 talented leaders to participate in an intensive range of virtual workshops, roundtables, networking sessions, and keynote speaking engagements spearheaded by senior leaders from government, academia, and private industry.

EaGLE participants are mission-oriented civilian or veteran leaders from diverse fields driven by a strong desire to confront professional challenges with disruptive strategies, and willing to invest in their development and the development of their colleagues.

Pilot Cohort

  • Convened 33 early-career professionals with half of the participants being veterans or active-duty military, selected from more than 300 applicants.

  • Content was delivered in partnership with McChrystal and included Gen. John Allen, and Steve Blank, founder of Lean Startup, as guest speakers.

  • The curriculum was organically designed by young people for their peers to address common shortfalls in training pipelines across government and service agencies.

  • Between core sessions, participants engaged in networking sessions to build a virtual community and continue to support each other in their professional development.

  • Participants engaged in 14 hours of sessions over two weekends covering design thinking, lean start-up methodologies, and strengths-based leadership.

Continued Monthly Programming for EaGLE Alumni

A special attribute of EaGLE cohort participants is their driven nature to invest in their personal and professional development. As the number of cohorts continues to grow, the EaGLE Program’s goal is to provide continued programming that meets the need of these dynamic, emerging leaders.

Monthly virtual and in-person programming events will take place on the last Tuesday of each month, ranging from guest speakers and career panel discussions, to networking across cohorts as one EaGLE family.

These monthly events also serve to connect the community in between annual EaGLE Summits, where all alumni can congregate in a formal setting and continue driving career development for themselves and their peers.
